Honey felt an odd combination of both happiness, surprise, and sorrow. She felt a pressure behind her photo-receptors, meaning she was on the verge of leaking. Taking a moment to compose herself, she closed her eyes and inhaled deeply. Even though he looked different, his cheek felt the same against her hand. It really was him.
“Oh- Rabbit, of course not! I-…I rather like it…” Her boiler’s heat increased, causing the metal of her cheeks to warm. “I like it a lot…you look very handsome- er, neat…yes.”
Rabbit hadn’t even taken the time to remember things were called off between them. He was just terribly happy to see her. To see that she wasn’t shut down or destroyed during the war, or any time after that. It had been a while, after all.
Rabbit grinned and gave a small laugh. “I’m glad y-y-you like it.” He paused for a moment. “Where are my manners, you wanna come in?” He motioned into the greenroom that they had been given. He had a feeling his brothers wouldn’t mind. If anything they should understand. After all, they had been there for the few months following his departure from her where he was practically inconsolable.
He definitely looked like a copper penny that had aged beautifully. She meant it when she said he looked neat. Oxidization was very interesting. She felt that it gave him a very unique look.
Honey nervously peered around him and peeked into the room. “Is it okay if I do? I don’t mean to intrude, I just…oh my, I guess I did intrude. I don’t think I’m supposed to be back here.”
“…it is? It’s you-” The tube on the inside of her neck felt as if it had tightened as she squeaked out a response. “Oh…”
As soon as she was in his arms, she felt her boiler begin to warm up. Her small fingers grasped the back of his vest as she returned the hug. “I never…I didn’t neither, I just-” It was so hard to express the feelings bubbling up from her core. Pulling away gently, she brought her hands up to his metal face and held it there. She couldn’t believe it.
“Of all places…I know they say the world is small but I never thought I’d find you here. You look so…different…”
He gave a all too pleased laugh as he held her to him. Of course he would eventually have to let her go. He did nothing to stop her hands from finding his face. One of his own hands came to rest on top of hers, his cheek pressing against her palm. Of all things! It was rather remarkable really. What were the odds of them meeting like this.
He looked confused for a moment before nodding. “Yeah. No war on right now. Doing what I was programmed to. Have a b-bit of a more friendly look, so to speak.” He paused for a moment, a small clenching feeling in his abdomen. “Y-y-you don’t dislike it do you?”
